KONA AMBASSADORS

Jake Hood

I’m a chap that goes by many names, Hoodrat, Chewie, Jacques, Myles, “That hardtail nutter,” Jake the Snake, HJ, the list goes on. But really I’m just Jake Hood. I hail for the bonnie land of Scotland but currently reside in Dreamy Queeny (Queenstown) New Zealand. I’ve been based in Queenstown for the last 5 years. I work in BIkeholic Queenstown and have been twisting Allen-keys there since they opened. I’ve been a bicycle technician for over 10 years and love making people’s bikes so much better than they could ever have dreamed. I love all forms of riding but being in the woods riding my Kona Honzo is top of the list. The enjoyment that bike brings can’t be beaten. I seem to spend a lot of time in front of the lens but over the last year have been getting behind the lens. I picked up a love for photography last year and am fully hooked on it now. I’m lucky enough to live in a place with every sort of riding you could ever want and great mates to go riding with. No better feeling than smashing out an epic ride with your mates then heading to the bar (Atlas Beer Cafe) some post-ride beers. I’ll see you there!

I’m honoured to be a part of the Kona ambassadors for 2020 and hopefully into the future. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks at Kona HQ and at that time I could tell that Kona is so much more than just a “Bike Brand”. It’s an extended family of bike-loving misfits that live and breathe bikes. It makes me proud to swing my leg over a Kona, knowing that the heart and soul of the people behind the brand have been poured into this fine 2-wheeled machine.
