Connor Fearon

For as long as I can remember, all I ever wanted to do was ride on two wheels. My passion for hitting jumps and going fast on bikes goes back to my earliest memories of jumping off of sketchy ramps made from whatever I could find in the yard. I started riding mountain bikes, then started competing, and eventually made it to a point where I became a professional athlete doing what I love. I’ve been riding on the Kona team for a decade now and have achieved World Cup and EWS podiums, and have had plenty of good times riding my bike!

Kona Process X. Do I really need a reason? I love how hard you can ride this thing and it just asks for more!

WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

Born and bred in Adelaide, South Australia. I still live here in the Adelaide Hills.

DO YOUR BIKES REQUIRE ANY SPECIAL SETUP TRICKS TO MAKE THEM “JUST RIGHT”?

I’m really picky about my stack height and the roll on my bars and grips. After it’s set, I don’t change anything!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEASON?

The TransTasmania race at the start of February. I’ve never done a multi-day enduro event before and it will be the first big race away from home for a year or so!

WHO IS THE PERSON YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?

Greg Minnaar. The guy has been on the circuit for 20 years and still winning races

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TRACK OF 2020 AND WHY?

Mount Gambier Downhill track. We went to Mount Gambier for one of the State DH rounds. I hadn’t ridden that track before and it was steep and loamy, not something we usually get to ride in South Australia.

WHAT WAS THE LAST GIFT YOU GAVE SOMEONE?

I gave the tradies (builders) at my house a carton of beer two days ago.

WHAT FICTIONAL CHARACTER DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH THE MOST AND WHY?

Davos Seaworth from Game of Thrones. I just did an online "Which character are you" quiz. I haven’t seen that show so I hope he is a good guy.

HOW WOULD MATHIEU DUPELLE DESCRIBE YOU IN JUST THREE WORDS?

2020 WAS A CRAZY YEAR, CAN YOU SHARE WITH US ONE HIGHLIGHT AND LOWLIGHT?

The highlight was being able to race the entire local Enduro and Downhill season. It was awesome to hang out with all the local riders and make new friends that live in my hometown.

The lowlight is easy to pick for me, missing out on the EWS and WC races that actually happened really sucked. I’m looking forward to lining up next to the big dogs in 2021.
