Miranda Miller

I’m a Sea-to-Sky local. I lived in Pemberton until I was 12 and then relocated to Squamish, where I still live. People are constantly saying how rare it is to meet a true local, but I guess if you’re a true local you know all the locals…and it’s not that weird. My love has always been the feeling you get when going fast, so growing up it was all about finding speed and new ways to obtain it. I’ve spent the last 10 years of my life chasing speedy dreams around the world, discovering the feelings of failure, regret and what broken bones feel like; but more importantly, confidence, inclusion and in my eyes, success. Although my time with Kona is still very much in its beginnings, I feel a part of the club!

RIDING WITH KONA SINCE

2019

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE KONA IN YOUR QUIVER AND WHY?

The Process X in mullet formation is insane. It's like a DH bike that climbs uphill! On tracks with a little gravity on your side...damn she rips.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

Sea-to-Sky all day, every day.

DO YOUR BIKES REQUIRE ANY SPECIAL SETUP TRICKS TO MAKE THEM “JUST RIGHT”?

I always strive for a balanced feel between front and rear suspension in regards to rebound, and I like my brake levers 5 clicks from fully dialed in.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEASON?

To race more! We got teased in 2020 and I can't wait to be back in the swing of things with the team at events. We all missed a lot of things this year, but having time to progress against the clock and push yourself with all your buddies is what I missed the most.

WHO IS THE PERSON YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?

To choose one when you're surrounded by so many great people is too hard. Loic Bruni–for his seemingly perfect, powerful riding, but more importantly, his good heart. Finn Iles–for his mental strength and unwavering confidence. Steve Smith–for being a friend first and then a champion. Jared Graves–for his willingness to help others improve and his skill in so many disciplines. Casey Brown–for always being herself.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TRACK OF 2020 AND WHY?

I spent a lot of time riding closer to home this year and I ended up at Sun Peaks Bike park a lot. Insanity DH is unreal. High-speed chutes, shale banks, sections that you have to pump to carry good speed—it has all the makings for a great time.

WHAT WAS THE LAST GIFT YOU GAVE SOMEONE?

Hmmm…I gave my oldest sister a gift after our 2-week quarantine because she made sure that we never went hungry while we were trapped inside. But my gift of friendship is given every day...

WHAT FICTIONAL CHARACTER DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH THE MOST AND WHY?

I'm not sure I identify with him, but I always get a little depressed after I read/watch Harry Potter. It's just such a cool story and it's such a bummer that none of it is real...

HOW WOULD MATHIEU DUPELLE DESCRIBE YOU IN JUST THREE WORDS?

know. it. all.

2020 WAS A CRAZY YEAR, CAN YOU SHARE WITH US ONE HIGHLIGHT AND LOWLIGHT?

2020 was a lot harder for a lot more people than it was for me and I'm incredibly grateful for that. The highlight would be riding in BC during the summer more. Racing the Crankworx Summer Series with a tight group of friends, pushing ourselves to the limit every day in multiple events and getting to stand on 9 out of 12 podiums was great.
A personal lowlight would have to be my races in Europe where I really struggled to push and find the limit in racing. I suppose another lowlight was seeing a little too much hatred and divide in the world.
